Namche Bazaar
The gateway to the high Himalayas and the capital of the Khumbu region at 3,440 m. A horseshoe-shaped town with colourful lodges, a famous Saturday market, and the first views of Everest for trekkers heading uphill.
Tengboche Monastery
The most famous monastery in the Khumbu, sitting at 3,867 m with a jaw-dropping backdrop of Ama Dablam, Everest, and Nuptse. Tengboche is the spiritual heart of the Sherpa world and the site of the Mani Rimdu festival.
Gorak Shep & Kala Patthar
The last settlement before Base Camp at 5,164 m, Gorak Shep is a cluster of lodges on an ancient glacial lake bed. Kala Patthar (5,545 m) above it offers the finest close-up view of Everest's south face of any trekking summit.
